Oil of the day!

White Fir is recognizable as the common Christmas tree.  It is a powerful antioxidant and has historically been used for relief of exercised muscles, for soothing muscle and rheumatism pain and has been widely used for strengthening the immune system.

It also increases poor circulation, is effective with genital and urinary infections, and reduces asthma and coughing.  It is also used as a disinfectant and decongestant.  The dōTerra Essential Oil White Fir is from the botanical family Pinaceae and comes from Austria.  The oil comes from the needles of the White (Silver) Fir tree.

White Fir can be a skin irritant, use with caution.  Do the skin test first and have a carrier oil handy or blend with as needed.

Tooth Pain...

A couple days ago I was out and about with my husband.   It was 730pm, most places were closed for the evening and there was a crazy rainy snowy storm rolling across the area.  I was 50 miles from home which was about an hour drive or more with the slick road.   I have a broken tooth in the back on my lower left side.  It's been broken for quite some time now.  Anyone who knows me, knows how much I loathe going to the dentist.  I'll put it off as long as I can.   This doesn't usually fare well, I know, it usually just makes the matters worse and results in a costlier fix and more agonizing pain.   But yet, I still procrastinate.

If you've ever had to have a root canal, you probably have experienced having an exposed nerve ending in your mouth.   If you haven't, I'm here to tell you that in my opinion, nerve pain in your mouth and jaw are by far the WORST pain you will ever experience in your life.    I have a very high tolerance for pain normally.  Nerve pain in my face tends to floor me, turn me into a crying 3 year old writhing on the floor in extreme dramatic pain.   Not only does your tooth hurt, nerve pain radiates.   This means it's not localized to one area of your mouth or even your face.

This particular night, it hit me.   It punched me square in the face.  It radiated from that one tooth, up my jawline, into my front top teeth, my left cheek and into my eye socket.   I cried.  I screamed.  I was desperate. I needed relief and I needed it now.

No dentists open.   A several miles from home.   My husband drove to the nearest grocery store to find some orajel or something.   Anything!

I couldn't take it.   It seemed like forever.  And while he was in the store I realized I had a packet of doTERRA Deep Blue Rub in his glove box and a little bit of fractionated coconut oil.  Now, you certainly can't put deep blue in your mouth, yuck!  So I thought.   What if I rub a little bit on my jaw line/cheek.   What would I be out?

I was completely amazed!   Within literally seconds I could feel the pain subdue.   I massaged a bit more on my jaw line on the cheek outside my mouth where the broken tooth is.  Within minutes, I was pain free and relaxed.   And then my husband returned to the car with the orajel.   How was I supposed to tell him I didn't need it anymore? Lol.

So I know I need to make a dentist appointment and get this taken care of.  But for the short term, I am sooo grateful I had that packet of Deep Blue!   I'm pretty sure given the experiences  I've had so far with it, it's my favorite oil blend!  I've been amazed more than once with it in the last couple months!

If you want to try it, I can send you a free sample!

Quick Tip!

Peppermint can help relieve some pain that comes along with having a headache, whether it’s a tension headache or a migraine… next time you feel one coming on reach for Peppermint essential oil.

Dab a couple drops on your temples, back of the neck and your sinuses.   The peppermint will provide soothing relief of the pain and if it’s a migraine, the smell of peppermint can help alleviate any associated nausea.

Give it a try next time.   Peppermint can cause some irritation to sensitive skin, so be sure to have some carrier oil handy in case.  If you know you are sensitive to it, you  may wish to dilute it with carrier oil before applying.

The Don’ts of Essential Oils…

EODONT

While always sharing the “DO’s” of Essential Oils, I feel it also necessary to share the “DONTs” as well.   Please read through these for your safety and effective use of essential oils..

  • DON’T expose essential oils to sunlight, excessive heat, or moisture.
  • DON’T place or use near cell phones and gadgets with high electromagnetic interference.
  • DON’T touch the opening of the bottle (Orifice), instead drop oils from 3” away from palm or surface.
  • DON’T forget to see how your oils can be used (Topically, Ingestible, etc)
  • DON’T drop essential oils into ears and avoid contact with eyes.
  • DON’T use water if there is a persistent burning or the oil is “HOT”, this will only make it worse.  Always use a carrier oil for sensitive skin and young children.
  • DON’T use plastic or Styrofoam cups if you plan on drinking water with essential oils.  Due to the high concentration of the oil it can melt or damage them.
  • DON’T touch your keyboards if you have oils on your fingers, the print will rub off.   It can even melt nail polish.
  • Use a ceramic spoon when you stir your oils into water or swirl your glass instead.
  • DON’T overuse essential oils… a little goes a long way.   Overuse can also result in negative side effects.

Please please! Do your research on how to apply and use your essential oils.   They are easy to use and a safer alternative to most synthetic drugs on the market.   They are natural and use of essential oils trace back to ancient man.  But Safety should always be first.   When introducing essential oils to your body, it is best to only try one at a time to see how you react to it.   If applying topically, try it on a small spot of the skin (the inside of the elbow) and see if your skin is sensitive to it.   Always have a carrier oil handy, there are examples in one of my previous posts.  Remember good essential oils are pure, highly concentrated oils… a little truly goes a long way and they are very powerful thus resulting in some reactions to plastics etc.  Always store essential oils in a cool, dry place and keep out of reach of little hands.

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
