Combining Reflexology Points and Essential Oils!

Combining Reflexology and Essential Oils can have a powerful effect and can act quicker (sometimes within minutes of application!). Your feet are the quickest route to apply essential oils because the pores on the bottoms of our feet are larger and open.

Remember when applying EO's topically that you know which oils are Neat or "Gentile" and which oils are HOT and may cause skin irritation. Some examples of HOT oils are cinnamon, basil, oregano, clove, cypress and wintergreen. Always have a carrier oil handy especially with children. Carrier oil will dilute the Essential Oil (EO) and take the "Heat". Carrier Oil examples include but not limited to: Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and if you dont have any of those on hand, you can use extra virgin olive oil from your kitchen cabinet.

What makes Aromatherapy so powerful?

brain-regions-100414-02

Why is Aromatherapy so Powerful? Scents are often times can trigger a memory or a feeling, this is what helps make Aromatherapy so successful! Lets think about the scent Cinnamon. When you smell Cinnamon... what Color do you think of?

Paleo-Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-1240Think for a moment, maybe for some a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies reminds them of happy memories at Grandma's house. This triggers parts of the brain to send signals to the rest saying that it is "Happy" or maybe "Safe". The Mind and Body have a powerful link. When the mind feels "Safe" or "Happiness" it spreads throughout the body that same feeling throughout the nervous system. When the mind and body are in balance, it promotes well being, harmony, can promote healing, and good health.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are aromatic volatile liquids distilled from shrugs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes and seeds. The chemistry of essential oils is very complex; each one may consist of hundreds of different and unique chemical compounds. Moreover, essential oils are highly concentrated and far more potent than dried Herbs. The distillation process is what makes the essential oils so concentrated. It often requires an entire plant or more to product a single drop of distilled essential oil!!

If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.

Essential oils are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends depending on user experience and desired benefit. Essential oils are usually administered by one of three methods: diffused aromatically, applied topically, or taken internally as dietary supplements.
